Abia partners SON to enhance export readiness, combat product counterfeiting

Abia State is joining forces with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) to bolster its export capabilities and tackle the pervasive issue of product counterfeiting. The partnership seeks to ensure that goods produced in the state meet rigorous international standards, thereby enhancing their marketability abroad and safeguarding consumers from substandard or fake items.

Information Commissioner Okey Kanu revealed the collaboration on Monday, following a State Executive Council meeting in Umuahia. The move signals a commitment from the state government to elevate the quality of its products and build confidence in its export sector. By working with SON, Abia aims to create a more robust regulatory environment that supports legitimate businesses and discourages illicit trade practices.
