Abia ranks third fastest-improving state in Nigeria, Report

Abia State has been recognized as Nigeria's third fastest-improving state, achieving a positive momentum score of +0.67 in the 2026 Philips Consulting State Performance Index Momentum Index. This ranking places Abia ahead of numerous other states assessed in the review period, which covered 33 states.

The state's impressive performance is attributed to strategic investments across key sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, digital innovation, security, public sector reforms, agriculture, and economic development. The government highlighted the reconstruction of major road networks, the establishment of Smart Schools, and reforms in governance and revenue administration as significant drivers of this transformation.
