Abiodun completes 108-unit Buhari estate in Ogun

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has successfully completed the President Muhammadu Buhari Estate in Abeokuta, turning a previously stalled project into a 108-unit residential community. The estate, situated along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway, is scheduled for commissioning by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

The project faced significant challenges, including a legal dispute and potential forfeiture, when the Abiodun administration inherited it from former governor Ibikunle Amosun. At that time, only infrastructure had been awarded, and a single show building was constructed. The administration resolved the dispute out of court and settled outstanding payments to protect the state's interest.

This project is part of our administration’s commitment to providing quality and affordable housing for different categories of residents, while ensuring that government projects inherited from previous administrations were completed rather than abandoned.

Rather than abandon the development, the government adopted a public-private partnership model. Under this arrangement, the state provided the land and infrastructure, while private developers managed the construction and sale of the housing units. The completed estate features 108 four-bedroom duplexes, both detached and semi-detached, along with essential infrastructure such as internal roads, street lighting, water supply, waste management, a sporting center, and 24-hour power within a secure, gated environment.

Governor Abiodun stated that the project reflects his administration's commitment to preserving public investments and completing inherited projects. He added that the estate will serve as a model for future public-private housing initiatives in the state.
