Abiodun Declares Ogun on High Alert Over Rising Insecurity

Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has declared a high alert across the state in response to escalating security threats throughout Nigeria. The governor announced plans to implement technology-driven solutions to bolster the state's security infrastructure and safeguard lives and property.

Speaking at a strategic meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun described the widespread issues of terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping as deeply concerning. He assured residents that his administration would take proactive measures to prevent criminal elements from establishing a presence in Ogun State. "We are rising to the occasion of insecurity by deploying technology to safeguard the lives of our people. We will not wait for anyone to come and attack us," Abiodun stated.

The governor reaffirmed the government's dedication to ensuring resident safety through strategic investments in security infrastructure, enhanced collaboration with security agencies, and sustained community engagement. He highlighted the importance of maintaining Ogun State as a secure and investment-friendly destination.

Special attention is being directed towards the security of schools and educational institutions, recognizing children as the state's future. Security measures around schools have been intensified with increased surveillance, deployment of personnel, stronger inter-agency cooperation, and the use of modern technology to monitor vulnerable areas. These interventions aim to deter criminal activity and ensure a safe learning environment.

Governor Abiodun also mentioned that while infrastructure development has been a focus, greater emphasis will now be placed on human capital development and social intervention programs to mitigate the impact of economic challenges on residents. He commended the APC members in Ogun State for conducting peaceful primary elections, viewing it as a display of political maturity.
