Abiodun presents APC candidate Adeola to Ijebu royal fathers, citing equity and competence

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has formally presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, and his running mate, Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, to the Ijebu Traditional Council. The governor sought the support and blessings of the royal fathers for the upcoming 2027 governorship election.

Speaking at the Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu-Ode, Governor Abiodun emphasized that his selection of Senator Adeola, who represents Ogun West, was driven by principles of equity and competence. He highlighted that Ogun West has never had a governor since the state's creation 50 years ago, making it a matter of fairness. Abiodun clarified his intention was not to seek a third term by proxy but to find a capable leader who could build upon his administration's achievements and maintain the state's development momentum.

I was not looking for a third term, but for somebody who would comfortably step into my shoes and continue to build on what we have achieved from day one. I was looking for that person from Ogun West because it is only fair and just. In the last 50 years since the creation of Ogun State, no son of Ogun West has had the opportunity to serve as governor. In Senator Solomon Adeola, I have found all the qualities I have been looking for.

"I was looking for that person from Ogun West because it is only fair and just," Abiodun stated. "In Senator Solomon Adeola, I have found all the qualities I have been looking for." He recalled the traditional institution's support during his 2019 election bid and appealed for similar goodwill for Adeola, assuring the royal fathers that the candidate would not disappoint.

The governor also endorsed the deputy governorship candidate, Mrs. Adegunwa-Balogun, describing her as an accomplished professional whose corporate experience would complement Adeola's leadership. Abiodun detailed his administration's accomplishments in Ijebuland, citing the reconstruction of the Ijebu-Ode-Epe Road and ongoing projects in Ogun Waterside as evidence of his commitment to the region, which he noted had suffered neglect under previous administrations.
