Abiodun welcomes PDP, ADC defectors, says he doesn’t know why people are still in PDP

Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has formally welcomed former ward leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) into the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defectors hail from Ijebu North, Ijebu East, Ijebu North-East, and Odogbolu Local Government Areas within the Ogun East Senatorial District.

Addressing the new APC members, Governor Abiodun expressed bewilderment at why some individuals continue to affiliate with the PDP, given its consecutive electoral defeats in 2019 and 2023. "Those of you who are still with the Peoples Democratic Party, I find it difficult to understand why you are still there," he stated, highlighting the party's consistent losses even in areas previously represented by significant political office holders.

Abiodun characterized the APC as the dominant political force in Ogun State and assured the defectors that they would not regret their decision. He reiterated his administration's commitment to completing projects initiated by previous governments, emphasizing that these projects, funded by taxpayers, should not be abandoned. He cited the completion of a hospital and the "Buhari Estate" as examples of his administration's dedication to seeing projects through. The governor urged the new members to champion the APC and the "Renewed Hope Agenda," promising a formal rally to celebrate their entry and assuring them of tangible benefits under the APC-led government.
