Accident causes traffic gridlock on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Traffic ground to a halt on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Wednesday as emergency crews responded to a lone accident near the Kara Bridge. The incident disrupted vehicular movement, causing substantial delays for drivers heading toward Ogun State.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the recovery operation was underway. Vehicles were temporarily stopped to allow officials to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow. The resulting backlog stretched to New Garage and beyond, significantly impacting commuters.

However, LASTMA noted that traffic moving from Mowe-Ibafo inward Lagos remained unaffected. The agency advised motorists to remain patient and cooperate with deployed traffic officials. In a separate incident, a fallen container truck at Cater Bridge was successfully removed, allowing traffic to resume normally.
