Accidents Disrupt Funen Traffic on Busy Travel Day

Two traffic accidents on the E20 highway on Funen, Denmark, caused significant disruptions on Saturday morning, a day marked by heavy travel. The incidents occurred near the Odense S and Odense SV exits.

One vehicle was stopped in the emergency lane near Odense S, while two cars blocked the left lane near Odense SV. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with either accident.

Fyns Politi duty chief Jesper Vestergaard stated that while the accidents caused congestion, the priority was to clear the roadway to restore normal traffic flow. "With the traffic pressure out there, I can only imagine that it causes some traffic jams," Vestergaard said. "But I can promise that besides ensuring no one gets hurt and those at the scene are removed, our top priority is to clean up so we can reopen traffic."

The Danish Road Directorate had warned of a high risk of traffic jams and extended travel times on Saturday due to the volume of holiday travelers. Traffic on the E20 across Funen is expected to return to normal after midday.
