Accused mass murderer dies by suspected suicide in German prison

A prisoner accused of a brutal mass murder in Stade allegedly took his own life in Bremervörde prison on July 22, 2026. The inmate, identified as Fatih G., was reportedly under constant surveillance prior to his death.

Fatih G. is accused of killing six people in the Stade region, with the motive believed to be related to a child custody dispute and frustration over not being able to see his child. The alleged crimes occurred approximately four weeks before his death in custody.

The prisoner obtained a pouch of tobacco the day before his suspected suicide.

According to reports from the Ministry of Justice, Fatih G. was last checked on around 8:30 p.m. in his cell, A.2.45-W. At that time, he received his prescribed medications, including antidepressants and a sedative. Prison officials noted no behavioral abnormalities during this final check.
