Accused mother's testimony 'highly adventurous,' say prosecutors in child abduction trial

Prosecutors in Hamburg have described the testimony of an accused mother in the trial over the abduction of her children as "highly adventurous." The businesswoman, who faces charges of hiring an Israeli security firm to abduct her son and daughter to Germany, has repeatedly denied meeting with the masked kidnappers in a conference room before New Year's Eve 2023/24.

The prosecution, represented by lawyer Philip von der Meden, stated that a meeting on December 28 in a hotel was "clearly proven." Von der Meden represents the children's father, Stephan Hensel, who did not return the then-10-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter to their mother after a weekend visit in August 2021. Christina Block had no contact with them for two and a half years following this.

The 53-year-old defendant continues to deny the accusations. She reiterated her innocence in a lengthy statement during previous court sessions. The prosecution alleges she commissioned the abduction, a claim she disputes.
