Actor Im Si-wan to host Busan International Film Festival closing ceremony alone

Im Si-wan will take the stage alone for the closing ceremony of the 31st Busan International Film Festival on Oct. 15.

The festival selected the actor as the sole host for the ceremony, which will also include the Busan Awards. The awards honor winners in the festival’s competitive section, introduced the previous year.

Im began his acting career in 2012 with the television drama “The Moon Embracing the Sun.” He later built a broad film, television and streaming portfolio through projects including “The Attorney,” “Misaeng,” “The Merciless,” “Run On,” “Boyhood” and “Unlocked.”

His recent appearances in seasons two and three of “Squid Game” expanded his international profile. He has also shown his range across genres through the film “Mantis.” His awards include the Blue Dragon Film Award for Popular Star, the Baeksang Arts Award for Best New Actor in television, the Buil Film Award for Best Supporting Actor, a ministerial commendation from South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Blue Dragon Series Award for Best Actor.

The 31st Busan International Film Festival will take place from Oct. 6 to 15 at the Busan Cinema Center and nearby venues in Haeundae District, Busan.
