Actor in Hit Drama 'Zhu Yu' Wanted by Court for Debt; High Reward Offered

Kou Zhanwen, a veteran Chinese actor and martial arts instructor recognized for his role as the father of the male lead in the popular historical drama "Zhu Yu," is now the subject of a court-issued reward notice due to significant debt. The notice, issued by the Jiangyin City People's Court in Jiangsu Province, has circulated widely online.

The actor, who also played the father of the female lead in the series, reportedly owes 6,945,937.07 yuan (approximately $1 million USD). The court is offering a 10% reward of the recovered amount to anyone providing information that leads to the seizure of Kou's assets to settle the debt. This could amount to nearly 700,000 yuan for the informant.

Kou Zhanwen, 59, graduated from the Beijing Film Academy and was once a fellow martial arts disciple of Jet Li and Wu Jing. His extensive acting credits include appearances in well-known dramas such as "Spring Brilliant Pig Bajie" and "Heroes of the Sui and Tang Dynasties." His current situation highlights the legal consequences of failing to meet financial obligations, even for established figures in the entertainment industry.
