Actor Kim Soo-hyun to Resume Domestic Activities After 1.5 Years Amid Controversy

South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun is preparing to make his return to the domestic entertainment scene, with his first official public appearance in South Korea in about 1.5 years scheduled for next month.

He is slated to attend the '2026 The Fact Music Awards' (TMA) as an award presenter. The event is scheduled to take place on October 19 at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium. This appearance comes after a period of controversy that led to his withdrawal from public life in South Korea.

Kim Soo-hyun's last public appearance in the country was in March of the previous year, when he held a press conference to address allegations of a past relationship with the late minor actress Kim Sae-ron. The controversy had cast a shadow over his career, prompting a hiatus from domestic activities.

Meanwhile, the actor has already been active internationally. He recently appeared on a special live broadcast for the 37th anniversary of Indonesia's largest private broadcaster, RCTI. Furthermore, he is scheduled to attend a fan meeting hosted by the Filipino lifestyle brand BENCH on October 2.

The controversy surrounding Kim Soo-hyun involved allegations of a relationship with Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. The founder of the YouTube channel 'Garo Sero Institute' (Gaseyeon), which raised these allegations, was reportedly sent for prosecution in June on charges of defamation and disseminating illegally filmed content.
