Actor Li Li-ren Embraces 'Dog Dad' Role, Attends Taipei Pet Exhibition

Actor Li Li-ren appeared at the 2026 Taipei Pet Exhibition, serving as a one-day store manager for a pet environment cleaning brand. He interacted closely with numerous fans and their furry companions, drawing a large crowd. Li Li-ren, who owns a Border Collie named "Dou Dou" and a Shiba Inu named "Ou Ni," considers himself a devoted "dog dad." He visits pet exhibitions annually to discover new products and felt particularly connected to this event due to his existing use of the brand's products.

Li Li-ren and his wife, Tao Ching-ying, treat their two dogs like their own children. Despite busy work schedules, they are committed to walking their dogs daily, regardless of the weather. Li Li-ren expressed excitement about the brand's collaboration with the "How to Train Your Dragon" series, as his entire family are fans of the movie. He particularly admires the character "Toothless," finding its expressions, movements, and behaviors remarkably similar to his own dogs.

He shared heartwarming anecdotes about his dogs' interactions. Dou Dou, the Border Collie, is skilled at playing fetch, while Ou Ni, the Shiba Inu, has a proud personality and dislikes thunderstorms. Li Li-ren recounted how both dogs immediately seek refuge with him during thunder, making him feel needed and secure. He finds this "sweet burden" of being relied upon to be very fulfilling.

Although the protagonist in the movie is a dragon, Toothless's expression, movements, and behavior are exactly the same as dogs, which immediately made me think of Dou Dou and Ou Ni at home.

As an experienced dog owner, Li Li-ren is meticulous about choosing pet cleaning supplies. He noted past issues with lingering greasiness in dog bowls, later realizing it was due to protein residue. He also found products that used artificial fragrances to mask odors to be problematic, as the scent mixed with dog odor created an unpleasant smell and could be irritating to pets. He strongly agrees with the brand's deodorizing philosophy, stating, "Many products use fragrance to cover up odors, but [this brand] truly breaks down odors."

Beyond his "dad" duties, Li Li-ren recently participated in the filming of "You and Me," a new Taiwanese Hokkien single by Nine One One's Chun Feng, reuniting with actor Wang Shih-hsien. He described the experience as meeting old friends rather than working. He also revealed that three of his film and television projects are scheduled for release this year, and he will be participating in a new reality show.
