Actor Weiron Holmberg is dead

Swedish actor Weiron Holmberg, celebrated for his memorable roles in popular films such as "Sällskapsresan" and the "Göta kanal" series, has passed away at the age of 91. His family confirmed his death to multiple media outlets.

Holmberg, who was also known for his political engagement, had a tram in Gothenburg named after him in 2015. His daughter, Lena Holmberg, shared a personal tribute, telling GP, "For everyone else, he was this actor, but for me, he was just dad. We were close and had a very fine relationship. I will miss him very much."

Lasse Åberg, who frequently collaborated with Holmberg, also expressed his grief. "It was very sad. Soon the whole film gang will be gone," Åberg told Aftonbladet, reflecting on their shared experiences. He described Holmberg as "a very cheerful and nice guy" and specifically praised his performance in "Sällskapsresan."

Åberg highlighted Holmberg's comedic chemistry with co-star Sven Melander, stating, "Sven Melander and he were some kind of radar pair chasing cheap alcohol. They played the roles absolutely charmingly, I think." Weiron Holmberg died at his home.
