Actress from 'Betty, la Fea' now shines in Netflix's 'One Hundred Years of Solitude'

Colombian actress Juanita Molina, 29, is stepping into the spotlight as a lead in the second season of Netflix's "Cien años de soledad," based on Gabriel García Márquez's iconic novel. Molina expressed deep emotion about her journey, stating, "I have cried all morning because reality, and how everything that had to happen has happened, has always surpassed the dream of the girl who went to theater class on Tuesdays and Thursdays."

Molina's career has been steadily building, with her name resonating in the Latin American entertainment industry. Before her current role, she was recognized as the daughter in "Betty, la fea" and played a role in the series about Pablo Escobar's son. She is ambitious, aiming for greater achievements: "I hope this is not my peak because I am a very ambitious woman and I aspire to great things."

Born in Medellín, Molina's passion for acting began in elementary school. Initially considering communication studies, she eventually decided to pursue acting full-time. Her career gained momentum in 2021 with a role in "La reina del Flow," followed by a leading part in the Netflix series "Romina poderosa."

Reflecting on early career choices, Molina told The Hollywood Reporter en Español in 2025 about the limited options for emerging actors in Colombia, where full scripts are rarely provided upfront. She relies on intuition and a director's advice to choose projects, considering factors like story, character, director, project direction, and financial aspects. "If at least three of those legs are firm, it's worth considering," she explained, using this as her compass.
