Adamawa APC gov primary marred by irregularities – Aspirant

Abdulrahman Haske, an aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Adamawa State, has voiced strong objections to the election's conduct, alleging significant irregularities. The primary, held on Friday, declared Ahmed Galadima, former Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, as the winner, with the result announced by committee chairman Prof. Innocent Bariko.

The absence of collation processes in some Local Government Areas, irregularities in voting in certain polling units, and limited access to collation procedures before the final declaration of results raises questions on the primaries.

Haske's campaign, through its Publicity Secretary Abdulgaffar Ahmed, questioned the credibility of the exercise. A key grievance is the premature declaration of a winner while results from several local government areas were still being collated. "The absence of collation processes in some Local Government Areas, irregularities in voting in certain polling units, and limited access to collation procedures before the final declaration of results raises questions on the primaries," the statement read.

Despite the declared winner, Haske assured his supporters that their journey is far from over and they would emerge stronger. His campaign organization is reviewing the primary's conduct and exploring "all legitimate avenues available," guided by due process, party unity, and the best interests of Adamawa State. Consultations with party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters are ongoing to determine the appropriate course of action within the party's constitution.
