Adamawa’s new NYSC camp ready for next batch, says Fintiri

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has announced that the state's new permanent National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp is nearing completion and will be ready to host the next batch of corps members. The assurance was given during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch B, Stream II youth corps members at the Damare orientation camp in Girei Local Government Area.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of youth corps members, assuring them continued payment of the N30,000 monthly allowance to those serving in the state.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos, Governor Fintiri stated that the construction of the permanent camp is in its advanced stages. He reaffirmed his administration's dedication to the welfare of corps members, promising the continued payment of the N30,000 monthly allowance to those serving in the state. The governor highlighted the government's recognition of the valuable contributions made by NYSC members across various sectors, including education, healthcare, and agriculture.

Fintiri encouraged the corps members to uphold the laws of Nigeria and respect the customs and traditions of their host communities. He urged them to actively promote peaceful coexistence and contribute positively to the development of the areas where they are posted. The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Wali Yakubu, also congratulated the new corps members and urged them to embrace unity and build relationships across diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.

While the state government expressed commitment to providing a safe and conducive environment, the Adamawa NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Caroline Chinedu, appealed for urgent assistance with the persistent electricity challenges at the current orientation camp. She noted that the reliance on generators has negatively impacted water supply, sanitation, and other vital services. A total of 1,520 corps members, comprising 779 males and 741 females, registered for the current orientation exercise.
