The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused President Bola Tinubu's administration of lacking ideas to combat escalating food inflation. The party stated that the government's focus on moderating headline inflation ignores the economic reality faced by millions of Nigerians, who find basic food items increasingly unaffordable.

According to the ADC, the National Bureau of Statistics figures show a marginal decrease in headline inflation from June to July, but food inflation saw a significant rise during the same period. The party criticized the government for "stubbornly" focusing on headline inflation while ignoring the more critical issue of food prices in markets.

The ADC urged the Federal Government to prioritize food affordability as a key measure of its economic reforms' success or failure, asserting that "hunger cannot be wished away by numbers on paper."
