ADC stakeholders claim Ilaka won Oyo gov primaries

Concerned stakeholders within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State have declared their rejection of the party's governorship primary election results conducted on May 22, 2026. These stakeholders, including party executives, youth and women leaders, and local government and ward representatives from across the state's 33 local government areas, assert that Chief Bisi Ilaka, the former Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, emerged victorious.

Reading from a communiqué on behalf of the party faithful, ADC leader in Saki-West Local Government Area, Barshir Lawal, stated that the announced election results do not accurately represent the collective decisions and true wishes of the party members. "Our records and reports from party structures across Oyo State clearly indicate that Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka secured victory in twenty-nine (29) out of the thirty-three (33) local government areas of the state," Lawal said. He emphasized that this claim is based on verifiable facts.

The stakeholders highlighted Chief Ilaka's political experience, popularity, acceptability, and grassroots connection as reasons for his widespread support among party members.

They believe the overwhelming majority of party members in Oyo State recognize Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka as their preferred choice, and they are calling for a review and restoration of the mandate they believe was given to him.
