Adeleke begins vacation and orders probe into chieftaincy dispute

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has begun a vacation in Europe, where he will also undergo medical examinations, while ordering an investigation into a disputed kingship in Koka town.

I am taking a short break to refresh and get further prepared to serve the good people of Osun State.

According to a statement from his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke will spend time in the United Kingdom and at other destinations that the government will announce. The governor described the break as a short pause to refresh and prepare to continue serving the people of Osun State.

At the same time, Adeleke directed the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to examine the reported appointment of another king for Koka Ilase. The appointment has raised the possibility of two kings claiming authority in the same town.

I read of another king appointed outside the one on the stool. The ministry is hereby directed to look into the dispute and issue a report to set the records straight.

The ministry must review the circumstances and enforce due process under chieftaincy law and local tradition. Adeleke urged all stakeholders to remain peaceful while the ministry investigates and issues a report to clarify the record.

I, however, urge all stakeholders to remain peaceful as the ministry does the needful. Kingship is governed by extant laws and regulations, and the government will stand by the law and tradition of our people.
