Adeleke demands arrest of Osun senator over killing threat

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called for the immediate arrest and investigation of Senator Francis Fadahunsi following the circulation of a viral video. In the video, the senator allegedly incites violence against leaders, supporters, and families of the Accord Party ahead of Saturday's governorship election.

The second issue has to do with the viral video of a serving Senator, Francis Fadahunsi, who today called for the killing of Accord Party leaders, supporters and their families. In the video, the Senator even threatened that where they cannot get Accord Party leaders, they should kill their wives and children.

Governor Adeleke stated he has reported the matter to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, who confirmed the video's existence and assured action. Adeleke described the senator's alleged remarks as a "national security threat" and urged the police and Department of State Services to intervene. The governor specifically cited threats against Accord Party members, including their wives and children, as a call for "incitement to genocide."

This is now beyond politics. This is now a national security threat that requires the attention of Mr President through the Office of the National Security Adviser.

The video was amplified on social media by singer Davido, who provided an English translation of the senator's alleged statements. However, Senator Fadahunsi has refuted the claims, asserting that the video was deliberately edited and manipulated to distort his actual words. He explained that his comments were a response to alleged attacks on his party members.

From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too.

Fadahunsi clarified that he was referring to retaliation if the alleged killings of his party members by Accord Party "thugs" continued. He insisted that his party would not remain passive if its members faced further violence in Ilesa and other parts of the state. The senator maintained that his intention was to warn against continued attacks, not to issue a direct order for violence.
