Adeleke inaugurates roads, faculty buildings in UNILESA

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, officially commissioned multiple projects at the University of Ilesa on Tuesday, asserting that he has fulfilled his promise to make the university a reality. The inauguration ceremony marked the completion of five key projects, including a remodeled Faculty of Law annex building, a remodeled Faculty of Public Health building, a reconstructed internal road network, new hostel buildings, a female medical hostel, and a Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences building.

Governor Adeleke emphasized the university's rapid and unprecedented growth within a short period. He recalled his government's foundational role in establishing the institution by enacting the law that created it, providing its governance framework, and securing accreditation for numerous courses. "To our royal fathers and the entire Ijesa sons and daughters, I have fulfilled my pledge to make this University a reality. Your dream, our dream, is a reality that nobody can play politics with," Adeleke stated.

He congratulated the university's Governing Council, Vice Chancellor, and management for their efforts, noting the university's progress. "Our baby is growing to become an adult. I am proud of you all," he added. Adeleke also detailed his administration's interventions, which included improving staff welfare, appointing world-class administrators, ensuring a smooth transition from the former Osun State College of Education, and converting all temporary and contract staff to permanent and pensionable status.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, Prof. Taiwo Asaolu, expressed profound gratitude for the governor's interventions. He highlighted the university's transformation from a vision to a thriving academic community with 12 Faculties, one College of Health Sciences, 110 academic programs, and over 15,000 students in just three years. The ceremony also included the installation of Mrs. Victoria Samson, CEO of Bovas Group, as the university's third Chancellor, succeeding Apostle Folorunso Alakija. Governor Adeleke had previously inaugurated other facilities on campus, including a sports complex, a laboratory complex, and lecture theatres.
