Adeleke unveils first phase of 3.5km Ila dual carriageway

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially unveiled the first phase of the 3.5-kilometer Ila-Orangun township road dualization project. This significant infrastructure development is expected to catalyze socio-economic growth in the historic town and its surrounding areas.

The dual carriageway is more than a road; it is a lifeline for commerce, mobility and safety for the people.

Governor Adeleke described the dual carriageway as a vital piece of infrastructure designed to enhance commerce, mobility, and safety for the residents. He emphasized that this project, along with other initiatives like new markets and health facilities, demonstrates his administration's dedication to ensuring development reaches all corners of the state, with a particular focus on rural communities.

The new road is anticipated to attract investment, facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce, and improve access to essential services such as schools, hospitals, and the traditional palace. "The dual carriageway is more than a road; it is a lifeline for commerce, mobility and safety for the people," Adeleke stated, underscoring its multifaceted benefits.

This project, alongside other township roads, markets and health facilities, shows that this administration believes development must reach the grassroots.

He further noted that the project connects Ila-Orangun to other towns, and the administration is concurrently working on intercity roads to ensure the town remains integrated into the state's infrastructure agenda. The governor also mentioned that his administration has already completed over seven kilometers of intracity roads within Ila-Orangun.

With this dualised road, we are opening Ila to more investment, easier movement of farm produce and better access to schools, hospitals and the palace.

Dr. Tokunbo Salam, the Commissioner for Special Duties, praised the Adeleke administration's landmark infrastructure achievements, noting that the first phase of the road was completed within the stipulated 12-month timeline. He remarked that the commissioning signifies a "landmark era" for Osun State, with this urban renewal project being a testament to the administration's commitment to progress.

Your Excellency, you will recall that 12 months and two days ago, you were here to flag off this road and gave us a mandate at the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to complete it within 12 months, and today we are here for its commissioning.
