ADFC launches summer cycling tour across Brandenburg

The General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) has initiated a summer cycling campaign across Brandenburg, Germany, titled "ADFC on tour." This initiative aims to encourage more people to embrace cycling as a practical and environmentally friendly mode of transportation. The campaign focuses on the "Tour Brandenburg" cycle path, a 1,111 km route described as Germany's longest long-distance cycle path, encircling Berlin.

Throughout the summer holidays, the ADFC is organizing weekend events encouraging cyclists to participate. The core of the campaign involves a friendly competition to see which section of the "Tour Brandenburg" – the northern or southern route – attracts more cyclists. This encourages exploration of the diverse landscapes Brandenburg offers, including 31 historic towns, eleven nature parks, three biosphere reserves, and one national park.

The "ADFC on tour" campaign is open to all who can cycle safely, with provisions for children to join on shorter segments. The emphasis is not on speed but on participation and the joy of cycling. The initiative kicked off on the Marienberg in Brandenburg an der Havel, with support from Transport Minister Robert Crumbach (SPD). The campaign will continue until Sunday, August 23, reaching as far as Fürstenwalde/Spree. Trained tour guides will accompany participants along the route, ensuring a well-supported experience.
