Aesthetic Dance Studio Presents ‘Suresh Mishra Memorial Award’

Aesthetic Dance Studio is preparing to host the second Suresh Mishra Memorial Award ceremony on July 29 at the EK Theatre in Kathmandu. This annual initiative honors the late dance educator Suresh Mishra and recognizes individuals who have made substantial contributions to Nepal's dance community.

The award ceremony, traditionally held on Guru Purnima (Teacher's Day), celebrates artists, teachers, and choreographers. The organizers aim to acknowledge those whose dedication and vision have strengthened the art form. Akrist Khadka of Aesthetic Dance Studio explained that the award was established due to a deep bond between their director, Namrata KC, and Suresh Mishra, who was her teacher.

Our director, Namrata KC, was one of Suresh Mishra Sir's students and shared a deep bond with him. That connection inspired us to establish this award in his memory.

"From the very beginning, we decided this would never be a one-time initiative. We committed ourselves to organising it every year so that his legacy continues to inspire the dance community," Khadka stated. The theme for this year's event is 'The Legacy That Dances On,' focusing on Mishra's enduring influence and encouraging emerging talent.

The ceremony will also feature performances by dancers and artists from various studios, fostering a spirit of creativity, collaboration, and artistic expression within the dance community. The initiative seeks to preserve Mishra's legacy by spotlighting those actively developing and advancing Nepal's dance sector.
