Africa Next Awards 2026: Daouda Koné Calls on African Elites to Build a Lasting Legacy

Paris hosted the first Africa Next Awards on September 3, bringing more than 100 African personalities to the Folies Bergère for their contributions to innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership and the continent’s development.

Daouda Koné, the Ivorian businessman and chief executive of Consortium Koné & Compagnie, served as patron of the inaugural event. Speaking before decision-makers, entrepreneurs and opinion leaders from around the world, he highlighted what he called the emergence of an ambitious and creative Africa.

“This evening, we are shining a light on the talents of a new Africa. An Africa that undertakes, innovates, creates and dares,” he said.

For Koné, excellence should not be treated as a simple prize. He presented it instead as a responsibility to society and urged the event’s honorees to build a durable legacy through commitment and transmission.
