Afriland Properties Appoints Agatha Obiekwugo as Board Chair

Afriland Properties Plc has appointed Agatha Obiekwugo as chairman of its board, ending Emmanuel Nnorom’s tenure after more than a decade in the position.

Obiekwugo joined the company’s board as a non-executive director in October 2018. She has served on the Finance, Risk and General-Purpose Committee and the Nomination, Audit and Governance Committee.

The company said she would lead the board as Afriland expands its real estate portfolio and strengthens its position in the Nigerian market. Obiekwugo brings more than 30 years of experience in banking, commerce, information technology, consulting, and the oil and gas industry.

She founded and serves as chief executive of Adassa Energy Limited, which operates across the upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors. She also sits on the boards of Heirs Insurance Brokers and Houce Limited, and is a founding member of the Women in Energy Network.

Afriland’s managing director and chief executive, Azubike Emodi, thanked Nnorom for his service and welcomed Obiekwugo’s appointment. He said her experience on the board, combined with her wider business background and entrepreneurial perspective, would support the company’s strategy and long-term value creation.
