Dennis Quaid says he has finally understood where happiness is found, after a life marked by heartbreak, new marriages and changing perspectives. The 72-year-old actor described his current period as “the happiest of my life.”

Quaid was once married to Meg Ryan, whom Turkish media described as Hollywood’s “romantic princess.” Their relationship was considered one of the industry’s model marriages until Ryan became involved with her Proof of Life co-star Russell Crowe. The affair brought the marriage to an end and left Quaid deeply hurt.

Years later, Quaid married twice more. He also saw his son from his marriage to Ryan, Jack Quaid, marry Claudia Doumi in April. In 2020, the actor began a new family life with 35-year-old Laura Savoie.

Quaid shared his reflections at a meeting connected with Water Wars, a documentary for which he served as narrator. Speaking to People magazine, he said he had learned that happiness is close at hand rather than something distant to be pursued.

In his younger years, he said, he was always trying to reach somewhere else. Now he feels more passionate and excited about his work than before.
