After German accusations, Denmark warns of Russian sabotage plans: “Concrete preparations uncovered”

Denmark’s security and intelligence service has issued an unusually public warning: Russian sabotage plans targeting the country are already being prepared, not merely considered as a distant possibility.

The main targets are companies involved in military support for Ukraine, according to the Danish Security and Intelligence Service, known as PET. Emil Græsholm, PET’s head of counterintelligence, said the threat was concrete enough to justify speaking publicly. “This is not just a warning that it could happen in Denmark one day. We can already see plans being made. Very concrete,” he told the Danish newspaper Berlingske.

Græsholm said Russia was planning operations intended to “stop certain deliveries for Ukraine’s defense.” He cited arson as one possible threat. He also said Russia was trying to recruit “ordinary Danes,” sometimes without them realizing they were working for Moscow. Their tasks could include taking photographs or videos of companies and facilities for possible use in sabotage.

The Danish warning came shortly after Germany accused Russia of involvement in an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport. Russian President Vladimir Putin responded angrily to the German allegations, while the Kremlin said evidence had been fabricated.
