AI and SW-centric universities showcase future talent at digital competition

The '2026 AI·SW-Centric University Digital Competition' has concluded, with teams from Sogang University and Chungnam National University clinching the top grand prizes. Sogang University's 'RADAI' team secured the award in the Software (SW) division, while Chungnam National University's 'You Only Come If You' team took the grand prize in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) division. Both teams were honored with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Award.

Organized by the Institute for Information and Communications Technology Promotion (IITP) and hosted by the Association of AI and SW-Centric Universities, the competition drew 1,088 students from 57 universities. A total of 335 teams initially participated, with 24 teams advancing to the final round held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul.

The participating students demonstrated creative approaches to solving social problems using the latest AI and SW technologies.

The competition was divided into two main categories: 'SW Development Based on AI Agents for Lifestyle Innovation' for the SW division and 'AI Agent Behavior Decision-Making Prediction Challenge' for the AI division. In addition to the grand prizes, 28 other awards were presented, including top excellence awards to teams from Yeungnam University, Dankook University, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, and Soonchunhyang University.

Several corporate sponsors, including Kakao, Hancom, TimSptarta, GREP, FortiTiuMaru, and DeepNude, provided additional awards. The competition highlighted the students' innovative approaches to solving societal issues using cutting-edge AI and SW technologies. The Association of AI and SW-Centric Universities emphasized its commitment to strengthening practical education and nurturing future talent in these fields.
