Air Peace, Etihad Airways Forge Partnership to Expand African Flight Network

Nigerian carrier Air Peace and United Arab Emirates-based Etihad Airways have inked an interline agreement aimed at significantly boosting travel connectivity across Nigeria, West, and Central Africa. This strategic partnership allows passengers to book journeys to multiple destinations using a single ticket, streamlining travel for customers of both airlines.

The agreement opens up 20 new destinations within Nigeria, West, and Central Africa to Etihad Airways' passengers. Conversely, Air Peace customers will gain access to Abu Dhabi, Etihad's hub, once the new routes commence. Passengers will be able to seamlessly connect from Etihad's services in Lagos and Accra onto Air Peace's extensive domestic and regional network.

Key destinations included in the expanded network for Etihad passengers beyond Lagos and Accra are Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, Enugu, Benin City, Owerri, Warri, and Asaba within Nigeria. Regionally, the network extends to Abidjan, Dakar, Banjul, Freetown, Monrovia, Conakry, Bamako, Douala, and Libreville.

This collaboration aligns with Etihad's broader African expansion plans, announced in April, which include the introduction of a daily service between Abu Dhabi and Lagos. Both airlines expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. Arik De, Chief Commercial and Revenue Officer at Etihad Airways, emphasized the long-term commitment to Africa, stating, "Nigeria sits at the centre of them." He highlighted how the agreement provides guests access to one of the continent's most extensive networks while bringing Air Peace's customers to Abu Dhabi.

Air Peace's Chief Commercial Officer, Nowel Ngala, echoed this sentiment, noting that the partnership extends Air Peace's ambition of "opening doors for Nigerian and West African travellers." The agreement is expected to take effect soon, with combined journeys becoming bookable on both airlines' platforms. This move further solidifies Air Peace's strategy of expanding its global footprint through strategic international alliances.
