Airstrikes kill several terrorists, disrupt bandit movements in Niger, Kaduna

Nigerian Army troops have successfully neutralized several terrorists and disrupted bandit movements through intelligence-led air operations in parts of Niger and Kaduna states. The operations, conducted by the Air Component of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have dealt a significant blow to terrorist and armed bandit networks.

Acting on credible intelligence, corroborated by human intelligence sources, indicating the convergence of over 200 suspected terrorists on motorcycles in the Dogon Dawa axis of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, the Air Component executed a precision airstrike against the terrorists.

Aerial surveillance confirmed the presence of armed terrorists moving in groups before a large concentration was identified at a suspected refueling point. Battle Damage Assessment confirmed that numerous terrorists were killed, with others seen fleeing with injuries.

The successful strike significantly disrupted the terrorists' activities, degraded their operational capability, and prevented them from regrouping for further attacks. The Army highlighted that these operations denied the networks the freedom to operate.

In a separate operation, Armed Reconnaissance in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State intercepted three motorcycles carrying suspected bandits. These bandits were attempting to launch reprisal attacks against troops following recent clearance operations. The suspects tried to evade detection upon sighting the aircraft, but their movement was successfully disrupted.

Follow-up reconnaissance, coordinated with ground troops, revealed no further suspicious activity. The Army emphasized that these successful operations underscore the effectiveness of integrated air and ground operations in sustaining pressure on terrorist and bandit networks across the North-West region.
