Aiyedatiwa approves 60% subvention increase for Ondo varsities

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has significantly boosted support for state-owned tertiary institutions by approving a 60% increase in their monthly subventions. This move demonstrates the administration's commitment to enhancing education and staff welfare within the state.

Governor Aiyedatiwa has approved an immediate 60 per cent increment in the monthly subventions to all state-owned tertiary institutions in the state.

In addition to the subvention increase, Governor Aiyedatiwa has approved the immediate implementation of the agreement reached between the Federal Government and university unions. This aligns state institutions with national standards and aims to address long-standing welfare issues, thereby boosting staff morale. The approvals are effective immediately, signaling a proactive approach to educational development.

The governor urged the management of the affected institutions and the unions to reciprocate the government's gesture through responsible fund management and a commitment to industrial harmony. This initiative comes as the Academic Staff Union of Universities at Adekunle Ajasin University had declared an industrial action over the non-implementation of the 2025 FGN-ASUU agreement, highlighting the ongoing need for such governmental support.
