Aiyedatiwa vows improved justice administration, institutional reforms

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has declared his administration's commitment to bolstering legal institutions, enhancing justice administration, and promoting democratic governance within the state. Aiyedatiwa articulated this vision during the inauguration of the Bar Centre, a new facility donated to the Ondo Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Ondo Town by legal luminary Tayo Oyetibo (SAN).

Governor Aiyedatiwa underscored the critical link between justice and development, stating that sustainable progress can only flourish in an environment where justice is readily accessible, individual rights are safeguarded, and public trust in institutions remains robust. He recognized the NBA as a vital "conscience of the nation," acknowledging its role in defending constitutionalism, democratic values, and constructive public discourse. The governor highlighted the indispensable position of the legal profession in any democratic society, warning that democracy risks losing its moral foundation and institutional strength without a courageous and independent legal fraternity.

The Bar Centre embodies the timeless virtue of giving back to one’s profession and investing in the advancement of institutions that shape society.

Describing the newly inaugurated Bar Centre as more than just a physical structure, Aiyedatiwa lauded it as a symbol of intellectual discipline, professional excellence, institutional continuity, and the enduring nobility of the legal profession. He urged young lawyers to strive for excellence, expressing confidence that the centre would serve as a hub for learning, professional advancement, intellectual engagement, and a beacon of justice for future generations. The facility, designed by Oyetibo (SAN), includes a reception area, hall, library, conference room, cafeteria, lawyers' lounge, FIDA office, and document processing rooms, aiming to foster mentorship, professional development, and unity among legal practitioners.
