Ajax Signs Brazilian Striker Marcos Leonardo from Al-Hilal for Nearly €20 Million

Dutch club Ajax has secured the signing of Brazilian striker Marcos Leonardo from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal for a transfer fee reported to be just under €20 million euros. The Eredivisie club announced the acquisition on Friday, bolstering their attacking options with the 23-year-old forward.

Leonardo has committed his future to Ajax by signing a five-year contract. His move to the Netherlands follows a successful stint in Saudi Arabia, where he joined Al-Hilal in 2024 from Portuguese club Benfica. During his time with Al-Hilal, Leonardo proved to be a prolific scorer, netting 48 goals in 82 appearances across all competitions.

A significant highlight of Leonardo's career at Al-Hilal was his performance in the 2025 Club World Cup. He scored twice in a memorable match against Manchester City, including the extra-time winner, as Al-Hilal achieved a stunning 4–3 victory to advance to the quarter-finals. This performance underscored his ability to perform on a global stage.

Marcos Leonardo becomes Ajax's third signing of the current transfer window. He joins left-back Caio Henrique, who arrived from Monaco, and Daley Blind, who returned to his boyhood club as a free agent after his contract with Girona expired. The addition of Leonardo signals Ajax's intent to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
