AJK elections

Azad Jammu and Kashmir is currently undergoing a three-phase general election, a process initiated on Monday with voting in the Mirpur division. This electoral exercise is seen as vital for resolving the region's issues through democratic means, particularly following a period of political unrest. The subsequent phases are slated for August 2 in Muzaffarabad and for 12 refugee seats, with the final round of voting scheduled for August 10 in Poonch.

This marks the first time general elections in AJK are being conducted in phases. While consolidated results are still pending, preliminary indications show the PML-N in a leading position, with its primary competitor, the PPP, in second place.
