Đakovo to cover medical exams for young athletes

The city of Đakovo is stepping in to fully fund mandatory medical examinations for young athletes, aiming to remove financial obstacles for families and foster greater participation in sports. This move comes after new regulations increased the scope and frequency of these health checks, adding to the financial burden on athletes and their parents.

Mayor Marin Mandarić emphasized the city's goal of providing equal opportunities for all children to engage in sports, regardless of their family's financial situation. "The City of Đakovo will completely take over the financing of medical examinations for our young athletes," Mandarić stated. "We want to encourage children to participate in sports, train, socialize, and adopt healthy lifestyle habits. If we can help parents and prevent the cost of examinations from being a barrier for their children, Đakovo wants to and can do it."

The city administration highlighted that this measure is intended to alleviate the burden on parents. It ensures that all young athletes can undergo the required health check-ups, which are essential for participation in sports training and competitions, without financial constraints being a factor.
