AKP holds closed-door meeting on 'framework law,' expresses cautious optimism

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) convened a closed-door meeting with its lawmakers to discuss a proposed "framework law" before its submission to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The meeting was expected to be the final session for evaluations prior to the bill's official presentation.

AKP Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala, AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, and AKP Deputy Chairman Abdülhamit Gül arrived together at the group hall. Responding to journalists' questions about whether the proposal would be submitted to the Parliament that day, Ala stated, "We will inform our group and re-evaluate."

AKP Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Yayman, also a member of the National Solidarity Brotherhood Commission, expressed cautious optimism about the "framework law" before the meeting. "Discussions are already underway. It will be good for Turkey," he said. When asked for his assessment of the process, following his participation in the delegation that visited İmralı to meet with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Yayman remarked, "As always, we are cautiously optimistic. Our state's institutions are working. This is a state policy. Hopefully, we will all follow a regulation in the Grand National Assembly that will please our 86 million people."

Meanwhile, Cüneyt Yüksel, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly's Justice Commission, commented on the legislative process for the framework law. He indicated that the proposal could be on the Justice Commission's agenda by Friday after its submission to the Parliament's presidency. Following the closed-door meeting, the proposal is anticipated to be submitted to the Grand National Assembly.
