Al Bataeh, Al Hamriyah, Al Madam, Maliha officially become cities in Sharjah

The localities of Al Bataeh, Al Hamriyah, Al Madam, and Maliha in the Emirate of Sharjah are now officially classified as cities, according to the program “Direct Line.” This administrative update integrates them into Sharjah’s urban landscape alongside established centers such as Sharjah City, Kalba, Khor Fakkan, and Al Dhaid.

The change reflects a new administrative naming structure designed to enhance urban identity and bolster governance frameworks throughout the emirate. Authorities anticipate that granting city status will facilitate long-term development planning, improve the delivery of municipal services, and better address the needs of these rapidly growing areas with expanding populations and infrastructure.
