Al-Mousawi named Burgan handball team coach, overseas camp planned for September

Burgan Club has appointed Yaqoub Al-Mousawi as the head coach for its senior handball team, securing his leadership for the 2026-27 season. This strategic move aims to sustain the club's recent successes and prepare for a demanding schedule of domestic and international competitions.

Al-Mousawi, who previously led Burgan before the last season was cut short, returns to guide the Asian champions. The team faces a significant challenge with the upcoming IHF Men's Club World Championship in Cairo from September 25 to October 1. The club's management expressed full confidence in Al-Mousawi, emphasizing continuity and teamwork to build on their historic victory in the Asian Club Championship held in Kuwait.

He added that he is currently working with the club's handball department to finalize the technical and physical preparation program for the new season, while evaluating the team's requirements in both local and overseas talent to assemble a squad capable of challenging for every title.

The coach announced that preparations for the Club World Championship will commence this month, followed by an overseas training camp in early September. Al-Mousawi is actively working with the club's handball department to finalize training programs and evaluate the team's needs. He is also assessing potential foreign player acquisitions to strengthen the squad for both the upcoming championship and the new season.
