Al Wasl overpower Khorfakkan as Coronado treble seals Sharjah win in seven-goal thriller

Al Wasl responded to their first defeat of the season in emphatic fashion, overpowering Khorfakkan 5-2 in a seven-goal thriller at Zabeel Stadium.

The hosts had lost to Shabab Al Ahli in matchweek three, but quickly restored their momentum. Khorfakkan, meanwhile, could not follow up their first victory of the campaign after losing their opening two matches.

Al Wasl broke the deadlock in the 17th minute. Nicolas Gimenez curled a free-kick toward goal, and goalkeeper Ahmed Alhosani kept it out. Siaka Sidibe reacted first to the loose ball and poked the rebound into the net.

Six minutes later, Al Wasl extended their advantage. Sergio Pereira raced down the left, beat two defenders and cut inside before drawing a challenge from Kayque Campos. The referee awarded a penalty, and Gimenez calmly sent the spot kick into the bottom-right corner.

The match also featured a treble from Coronado that sealed Sharjah’s victory in another high-scoring contest.
