Former radio broadcaster Alan Jones appeared in Sydney court for the second day of his trial on charges of indecent assault. The proceedings focus on nine alleged assaults against a complainant, referred to as J, who claims Jones subjected him to unwanted sexual contact when he was a teenager. J alleges that Jones, whom he first met when he was 14 and a star athlete, provided him with weekly financial stipends, which increased after alleged incidents. One such incident, J testified, occurred in a hotel room after a function in Canberra, where Jones allegedly kissed him. Another alleged assault happened while driving to Jones's farm, where J claims Jones grabbed his penis over and under his underpants. J also stated he did not report the incidents to his coach at the time, fearing he would lose Jones's financial support and the "wonderful life" he was experiencing. Jones, now 85, has denied all wrongdoing, with his legal team citing "weakness in the evidence" presented by the prosecution. The trial, presided over by Judge Glenn Walsh, is expected to hear from 76 witnesses over four months.
