Alcohol primary cause of guest injuries at Smukfest

Alcohol is the main cause of injuries treated at the Smukfest music festival, according to security chief Thomas Rydahl. He explained that excessive drinking often leads to falls and other injuries, a common occurrence at festivals.

"We see that when you have too much alcohol, you can fall and hurt yourself," Rydahl said. He noted that the festival's wooded terrain can also pose a challenge for attendees.

On Thursday, the festival's medical tents and first aid stations handled around 300 cases. While the specific number of alcohol-related incidents was not provided, Rydahl indicated that the injury patterns are consistent with previous years. He added that the medical response is scaled throughout the day, with increased readiness in the evenings when more people are present and seeking care.

Rydahl anticipates the final two days of the festival will mirror previous days in terms of incidents, and his team is prepared to adjust their resources if the injury rate changes.
