Aleksić to Mali: You experienced the president calling you a complete idiot

Opposition lawmaker Miroslav Aleksić confronted Finance Minister Siniša Mali during a session of the Serbian Parliament, revealing that President Aleksandar Vučić had referred to Mali as a "complete idiot." Aleksić attributed this harsh assessment to Mali's role in the controversial nighttime demolition of properties in the Savamala district in 2016.

Aleksić, who is also the leader of the People's Movement of Serbia (NPS), sarcastically remarked that perhaps the demolition would have been perceived better if it had occurred during the day. "If you had done it during the day, it would have been much better, wouldn't it? You made a big mistake," Aleksić said, eliciting laughter from some attendees.

The opposition MP was referencing a statement made by President Vučić following the Savamala demolitions. At the time, Vučić claimed responsibility for the decision to demolish what he described as "illegally constructed shacks." He had also criticized those who did not follow his directive to clear these structures during daylight hours, calling them "complete idiots."
