Alex Albon renews contract with Williams through 2027

Alex Albon will continue with the Williams Formula 1 team after agreeing to a contract extension that will keep him with the squad through 2027. The Thai driver joined Williams in 2022, having previously been a test driver for Red Bull. He marked his 100th F1 race with Williams in Hungary before the August break.

Williams currently sits ninth out of eleven teams in the constructors' standings with 11 points from 11 races. The F1 season resumes this weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Albon's teammate, Carlos Sainz, who has contributed six of the team's eleven points, has yet to finalize his contract renewal. This uncertainty has fueled speculation about his future with the team. Sainz joined Williams from Ferrari on a multi-year deal for 2025 and is reportedly subject to a performance clause that could allow him to leave if a better opportunity arises, according to Reuters. Some reports suggest Sainz might join Audi in 2027.
