Álex de la Iglesia to direct Lovecraft-inspired animated film

Spanish director Álex de la Iglesia is set to direct his first animated feature film in 2027. The project, a 3D horror movie for adults, will delve into the dark universe of American writer H.P. Lovecraft. Titled "Ages of Madness: The Howling of the Jinn," the film marks De la Iglesia's foray into adult animation as both director and producer.

De la Iglesia described the undertaking as "very complicated" and approached with "great respect." He shared these thoughts with EFE on the occasion of the premiere of "Minions y Monstruos," a film where he lends his voice to a film director in the Spanish dubbing.

The production is a collaboration between 3Doubles, Sumendi Uhartea, and Pokeepsie Films, the company co-directed by De la Iglesia and his wife, Carolina Bang. The announcement followed a statement released by 3Doubles, highlighting the upcoming exploration of Lovecraft's cosmic horror in a new cinematic medium.
