Alexander Zverev returns to top-earning tennis players list after seven-year absence

Alexander Zverev has rejoined the ranks of the world's top ten highest-earning tennis players, marking his first appearance on the list since 2019. Forbes magazine places the French Open champion at ninth position with earnings of $18.7 million USD (16.4 million Euros).

Of Zverev's total earnings, $13.7 million USD comes from prize money and bonuses accumulated on the court over the past year. The remaining $5 million USD is attributed to his off-court income, which includes endorsements, appearance fees, and business ventures. Forbes estimates these figures based on research and discussions with industry insiders.

The list is topped by Italy's Jannik Sinner, who boasts earnings of $58 million USD. Spain's Carlos Alcaraz follows in second place with $53.7 million USD. Notably, Serena Williams ranks third with $40.1 million USD. Despite earning only about $100,000 USD on the court, Williams is recognized by Forbes as the wealthiest female athlete globally, with an estimated net worth of $400 million USD.

Williams, who returned to professional tennis in June, nearly four years after her initial retirement, will compete at the US Open starting Sunday in New York. Zverev will also be competing at the US Open, where the men's and women's singles champions will each receive $5.5 million USD. The tournament has a total prize pool of $108 million USD, a 20 percent increase from the previous year.
