All Cambodian Men Must Perform Mandatory Military Service

Cambodia is taking a significant step towards bolstering its national defense by introducing a new Conscription Law, mandating military service for all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 25. This proactive measure, approved by the cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, signals a clear commitment to strengthening the nation's military capabilities and ensuring its security in an evolving geopolitical landscape.

The draft law, comprising eight chapters and twenty articles, is designed not only to fulfill the constitutional requirement of military service but also to instill a sense of duty, patriotism, and discipline among the youth. While mandatory for men, the law allows for voluntary participation by women, reflecting a modern approach to national service.
