Almaty resident promoted life with multiple wives – he was found

A resident of Almaty, Kazakhstan, who promoted polygamy and an alternative lifestyle on social media has been identified by police and faced administrative action. The man, who presented his views as acceptable and disregarded public opinion in published videos, was found to be in violation of Kazakhstan's legislation.

Law enforcement stated that the content contradicts the law and undermines respect for the institution of the family. The author of the videos was issued an administrative report under a specific article of the Code of Administrative Offenses concerning the publication and distribution of illegal content.

Facing a potential fine of 86,500 tenge (approximately $190 USD), the man subsequently deleted the controversial posts from his social media page after a conversation with the police. Authorities used the incident to remind the public that social networks are public spaces and individuals are legally responsible for materials that promote behaviors prohibited by law.
